ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Mountain West announced its full team schedule for the 2024 season on Thursday. The Lobos' schedule looks much different than years past, as UNM has a three-week bye week and an uneven number of home and road games.
Multiple factors contributed to the Lobos' strange format this season. Traditionally he has 13 weeks between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, but this year he will have 14 weeks and any team can take his two weeks off. The Lobos will start the season in Week 0 and earn an additional bye as they have a road game scheduled in Hawaii.
Additionally, 2024 will be the first season in which Washington State and Oregon State, the last remaining members of the PAC-12, begin scheduling agreements with the Mountain West. This will impact UNM's schedule as the Lobos will only play seven games against traditional MW opponents and one game against Washington State. The Lobos' game against the Cougars will not count toward UNM's conference record.
