Anthony Brown, a burgeoning 2026 prospect who holds an offer from Syracuse University basketball, is expected to skyrocket up the rankings after some impressive games on the AAU circuit this weekend, according to analysts and scouts.
Syracuse University staff offered the four-star point guard a scholarship in late August 2023, around the time he took an unofficial visit to Hill to attend the University of Orange's annual elite camp.
To date, Brown's early offer sheet includes Syracuse University basketball, Providence College, George Mason University and Norfolk State University, but I'm confident his offer list will grow significantly soon.
Next month, the contact period for the 2026 class will begin, allowing college coaches to communicate directly with high school seniors. Brown is likely to receive a ton of additional offers once the contact period begins.
The 6-foot-1 Brown is a sophomore for the 2023-24 season at powerhouse St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Virginia, which finished as runner-up at the Chipotle Nationals in Brownsburg, Indiana, in early April.
Earlier this month, Brown said in a post on his X-Page that he plans to transfer from St. Paul VI to spend his final two years of high school.
Brown's father told me he has been contacted by numerous local and national TV shows about his son and hopes to make a decision just before their summer broadcast periods.
High school seniors can begin taking official visits to college campuses starting Aug. 1 of this year. Brown's father said, “Anthony has said he would love to take an official visit (to Syracuse University's basketball team). He loves the history of the program and its ties to the DMV. We're just waiting for them to let us know when they have available dates.”
Brown has been playing grassroots basketball this spring and summer in the Nike EYBL league as part of Washington, D.C.-based Team Takeoverโs 16-and-under squad. The Orange coaching staff has strong recruiting ties with its AAU programs as well as the talent-rich Washington metropolitan area.
The EYBL circuit has conducted four spring sessions so far, with the current session scheduled to conclude over the holiday weekend in Kansas City, Mo. Although box scores on the EYBL website are not fully updated, Brown's play this weekend has earned him high praise from various national analysts and scouts.
On Saturday, Brown scored 24 points on 8-of-13 field goal shooting in a 21-point victory for Team Takeover. On Friday night, Team Takeover won by 10 points and, according to a post on X by Brown's father, his son recorded a whopping 13 assists.
Currently, ESPN rates Brown as a four-star prospect, the No. 13 point guard and the No. 5 player in Virginia in the class of 2026. As recruiting services update their ratings this cycle, Brown is positioned to make a leap according to multiple national analysts and scouts, including Travis Graf of MADE Hoops.
Shortly after Syracuse University basketball offered Brown, Colby Jacveno, a top analyst and scout for MADE Hoops and 247Sports, told me that the Orange freshman “has incredible feel for the game. He makes some of the most impressive reads of any kid his age, both as a passer and scorer. He can make three-point shots, control the pace and is a dominant player defensively.”
