On Thursday, an 11-year-old boy who was playing with his friends in Pune's Lohegaon area tragically died after being hit by a cricket ball. The victim, Shaurya Kalidas Khandove, said her family had the same dream of becoming wrestlers.
The incident took place around 9 pm on May 2 at Jagatguru Sports Academy Ground in Lohegaon. Shaurya is affectionately known as Shambhu among her loved ones and leaves behind her parents and her brother. An accidental death case was filed at Vimantar police station on May 4 in connection with the incident.
According to preliminary details, Shaurya was participating in a cricket match with his friends at the Jagatguru Sports Academy ground, which provides a night playground. Shaurya was bowling when the ball hit his genitals and he fell down. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital where medical experts declared him brought dead, a police officer from Vimantar police station said.

Inspector Sachin Dharman, who is heading the investigation, said a case of accidental death has been registered and investigation has begun. They will review the autopsy report and interview players who were at the scene.
Rameshwar Paul, Shaurya's relative, said the sixth-grader had a strong passion for sports and was well-connected with a wide range of friends.
