Cambridge, Massachusetts – The Harvard University women's ice hockey team lost to the No. 5 Clarkson Golden Knights today at the Bright Landry Hockey Center in their final game before the holiday break. The Crimson (2-12-1, 1-9-1 ECACH) trailed the Golden Knights 9-1 at the end of the first half.
Shannon Hollands He scored a goal for the Crimson in the game, his sixth of the season.
How it happened
- The Crimson and Golden Knights took to the ice to meet for the first time in the 2023-24 season today at Bright Landry Hockey Center. Harvard was coming off a thrilling 1-0 overtime win against St. Lawrence last night (Dec. 1) and was looking to hand Clarkson its first loss of the season.
- Clarkson started strong, putting 15 shots on net in the first period, and the Golden Knights scored two goals in the first 20 minutes to go up 2-0 going into the half-time interval.
- After Clarkson added one early in the second period, Harvard fought back with a goal from its senior captain. Shannon HollandsHollands hit a backhand shot into the net. Angelica Megdanis She carried the puck deep and passed it to Hollands in front, whose assist from Megdanis was her first career point.
- Clarkson responded with two more goals in the second half to lead 5–1 by the second interval.
- The Golden Knights added four goals in the final frame to take a 9-1 victory over the Crimson.
