Thanks to the USSF, MLS was able to become the most powerful soccer organization in the country. At the same time, the U.S. soccer system is in disarray due to competition between leagues. The mess of the U.S. Open Cup fiasco shows just how weak the leadership of the U.S. Soccer Federation is.
