The 2013 Seminoles finished the season as one of the best Florida State football teams in program history. That year, the Noles finished 14-0 with quarterback Jameis Winston winning the Heisman Trophy, kicker Lou Groza Award winner Roberto Aguayo, and center fielder Brian Rimington Trophy winner. – Stoke, with a roster full of All-American players, capped off a great year with a 34-31 win over Auburn in the BCS National Championship. On top of that, his 25 players from the winning team will play in his NFL.
FSU Football NFL Draft Preview: LB Karen DeLoach
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston recently talked about the Seminoles going into today's ultimate offense, but Florida State has a rich and illustrious history, so there are some interesting names, both old and new. He chose it because it was.
“Well, my running back would be DeVonta Freeman,” Winston said. “I love Warrick Dunn, and I know we’ve had great running backs, but I love my running backs.”
DeVonta Freeman became the first 1,000-yard runner to wear the garnet and gold since FSU legend Warrick Dunn did it in 1996. He helped lead the Noles to the BCS National Championship in 2013, rushing for 1,016 yards and 14 scores and adding 278 yards and a touchdown.
Another great FSU duo on the list were former star wide receivers Peter Warrick and Rashad Green. Warwick was part of his team that won his 1999 National Championship, fought hard through the rankings, and ultimately brought Florida State his second national title. Green helped bring home the trophy in 2013 and helped the Nodes reach their first College Football Playoff with an undefeated season in 2014.
“One would be Peter Warwick and the other would be my main boy, Rashad Green.”
To round out the list with one of the best tight ends in FSU history and a former assistant, Winston selected Nick O'Leary, who had a record-setting career while in Tallahassee.
“My tight end would be Nick O'Leary. That's it.”
O'Leary became the first Seminole player to win the John Mackey Award, given to the nation's best tight end. He finished with career-setting records as a tight end for career receptions (114), yards (1,591), and touchdowns (18). His 17 touchdown receptions were second in ACC history.
