Section III Division I Final
- (1) West Genesee 2, (2) RFA 1 (OT)**
The Wildcats won their third straight Division 1 title. RFA believed they had taken the lead in the third period, but with no video review, the puck that appeared to go in was waved away, keeping the score tied at 1-1. No conclusive evidence has been found as of this posting.
Tyler Locker, whose shot caused a controversial no-goal call, scored the tying goal for the Black Knights, and Donte Spache made 49 saves. RFA finished a great season with an overall record of 18 wins and 5 losses, finishing as the runner-up in Section 3.
women's basketball
Section III C-class semifinals
- (1) West Canada Valley 42, (4) Weedsport 38**
The Nighthawks, now 23-0, continue their pursuit of perfection, reaching the sectional final for the second time in the past three years. Western Canada was led by Ava Fellows with 18 points and Annalize Grabowski scored 15 points in the win.
The Nighthawks will face second-seeded Hamilton in the Section 3 Class C final at OCC's Allin Gym on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
- (2) Hamilton 55, (6) Dolgeville**
The Emerald Knights made it to the Class D final last year, but returned to the sectional final for the second year in a row. The Knights were led by sophomore Logan Rangel, who scored 28 points in the victory. The Blue Devils, who finished the season with a 16-7 record, were paced by Peyton Comstock, who dropped 20 wins.
Hamilton, which was without leading scorer Lindsay Speer for the game, improved to 21-2 and will play No. 1 seed West Canada Valley (which it beat in last year's Class D semifinals) in the Class C final Friday at 7 p.m. ) will be competing against. 30:30pm at OCC's Allin Gym.
