Michigan State football made history in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Former Michigan State and current Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh has selected Wolverine wide receiver Cornelius Johnson with the 253rd overall pick in the NFL Draft, giving Michigan the 13th player from its 2023 roster. was removed from the team, narrowing the gap with 2nd place. Most of the players drafted in 2024 were from Texas (Texas had 11 players drafted).
On a larger scale, Michigan currently ranks third on the list for the most draft picks in a single year since 1994, when the draft went seven rounds. The Wolverines are just behind Georgia (15), Alabama State and Ohio State (both 14th).

This isn't the only record the University of Michigan has broken or touched, as the Wolverines' draft class, headlined by current Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy, also holds the record for most picks in a single NFL Draft. It broke the program's all-time record. The Wolverines' previous record was 11, set in 2017.
