Kaidan Mbeleko On Saturday, Tiger made a career-high 43 saves to lead No. 15/16 Colorado College to a 6-2 victory over No. 2 North Dakota, giving the team its fourth straight win against North Dakota for the first time in program history.
Gleb Veremyev Scored two goals, Noah Raba With one goal and two assists, Colorado College improved to 18-9-1 tie overall and 12-6-0 tie in the NCHC, tying the team's most wins in a single season since the 2010-11 season and keeping them in the league for most wins in the NCHC this season.
UND's Abram Wiebe scored the opening goal at 5:49 on a 3-on-2 charge, beating Mbeleko from the right circle.
Jack Miller Just 14 seconds later, he received a mule pass from behind the net and beat UND goaltender Ludvig Persson with a powerful shot from the top of the slot to tie the score.
The penalty box started to fill up late in the first period. UND's Louis Jamelnik was called for slashing at the 16:02 mark, giving the Tigers a power play. The Tigers erased the 2:11 remaining lead from the Laba Major at the start of the second period thanks to Mbeleko stopping six shots. Stanley Cooley The whistle was blown for a fall at the 2:30 mark and North Dakota was quickly back on the power play. Mbeleko made four saves in those two minutes to keep his team in the game. North Dakota attempted 19 shots on five power plays, but only made one.
Evan Warner He scored the first of five straight Tigers goals at 17:00 of the second. Max Burkholder He beat UND goalkeeper Ludvig Persson to make it 2-2.
Logan Will CC took the lead at 4:19 of the third period. Gleb Veremyev After scoring two goals in a 60-second span, the Mules closed out the scoring with an empty-netter at 13:27.
North Dakota had 45 shots on goal, CC had 32. Person ended up making 26 saves.
The Tigers remain in third place in the NCHC standings with 33 points, just four points behind North Dakota (20-8-2, 11-6-1) and three behind St. Cloud State.
CC will play Omaha next weekend on Feb. 23 and 24 at Baxter Arena in Nebraska.
