Huntsville, Alabama | Alabama A&M University Women's Volleyball Director Dr. Brandon Reeves The Bulldogs on Monday announced the signing of four freshmen for next season, adding Nisaan Martinez, a talented 6-foot-3 left middle/opposite player from Belmopan, Belize.
Reeves expressed excitement about this important addition to the program and highlighted Martinez's outstanding frontcourt skills, which will greatly contribute to the team's defense and offense from the start.
“Martinez, with his ability to dominate games at the net, will bring a unique level of physicality to our team,” Reeves said. “Additionally, her infectious smile and her vibrant energy left a lasting impression as we got to know her. We look forward to integrating her into the Bulldog family.” I’m here!”
A three-year starter for the highly regarded Belize Stars club, Martinez recently led her club to victory at the National Volleyball Championship and was named Most Valuable Player. Not only is she the youngest member of the Belize Senior National Team, she also won four medals representing her country.
Ms. Martinez praised the program's impressive reputation and Dr. Reeves' guidance, which she said was a big draw for her. She expressed her love for the family-like atmosphere and warm welcome. Additionally, Martinez mentioned her love for campus locations, particularly highlighting her love for “The Hill,” which she has already found.
Martinez's dedication solidifies her status as the fourth future Bulldog player in the 2024 signing class, joining local transfer outside hitter Fatima Ramirez.
