Ange Postecoglou has praised Cristian Romero and suggested other Tottenham Hotspur players should look to him as an example of what he is looking for.
Spurs lost 3-2 in the north London derby against Arsenal, ending their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
However, Romero showed his energy throughout and capitalized on a mistake by David Raya to score the team's first goal, helping the team come back from a 3-0 deficit.
Postecoglou praised the Argentina international and hinted that other players in the team should follow his example.
“He was outstanding,” Coach Postecoglou said. “He is a World Cup winner, so I have to take what I have in him into other players.”
Coach Postecoglou was disappointed with his team's performance in what is always one of the biggest games of the season for supporters.
“It's disappointing. The result was disappointing,” he said. “We wanted to win today for the supporters and the club. We couldn't do that and no matter what I think about the performance, the result is up to me.”
“I thought our football overall was good, decent. We controlled the game most of the time, and we know that. We know we're a team that can do that.”
“Over time, we're just trying to get from where we are to where we want to get to. To that end, we're not completely focused on the details yet, we… “Focus on the little things that will get you from where you want to go.”A team that competes.
“Credit to Arsenal, they're there now. They're a team that deals with the details well and we don't.”
Tottenham face Chelsea next Thursday.
