Foreign Minister Israel Katz warned that Iran has accelerated arms shipments to Hezbollah via Syria since the start of the war in Gaza, and in a letter to the United Nations said Israel had “no control over its territory or its people”. He emphasized that there is an inherent right to protect the Security Council meeting on Thursday.
Katz said Iran has committed “serious violations” of Security Council resolution 1701, as well as violations of Security Council resolutions 2231 and 1540.
“Over the past few months, Israel has continued its armed conflict on many fronts, while Iran has accelerated the pace of arms transfers to Hezbollah,” he said. “Iran is doing this not only by air and sea, but also by land, taking advantage of the porous Syria-Lebanon border, in violation of Security Council Resolution 1701.”
According to the letter, the shipments include parts for air defense systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (including Shahed 101 and Shahed 136), and several types of missiles (including Mini Ababil and 358 anti-aircraft missiles).
Katz cited several instances of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah units involved in arms transfers, as well as multiple instances in which Israel observed shipments.
“Iran is the head of the snake.”
The foreign minister responded to reports about the letter in a post on Friday's If you have any intelligence information,” he wrote. Appeals to the Security Council will not bring about change, and we will not hesitate to act. ”
