LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Politics is getting interesting for fans of the video game “Halo” as Republican Marty O'Donnell has decided to run for Congress.
O'Donnell has been gaining attention after posting an announcement on social platform X (formerly Twitter) as @MartyTheElder on Sunday, March 3. And when Elon Musk reposted the message on Tuesday, saying, “I hope more people like Marty run for office,” the issue gained even more attention.
O'Donnell, who is 68 years old and lives in the Lone Mountain area of the northwest Las Vegas Valley, has produced Riven, Myth II, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Destiny, and Golem.
He joins Republicans Elizabeth Helgelien, Drew Johnson and Steven M. Shiffman in defeating incumbent Democrat Susie Lee in Nevada's 3rd Congressional District. The Republican candidates in the June primary will be narrowed down to one candidate who will face Lee in the November general election.
“I never wanted to be a politician, and I still don't,” O'Donnell's social post begins. “I have had two successful careers and started several small businesses. I have also worked for several large companies. I am ready to retire and spend more time with my family. I could – I've been doing that for the past three years. I think they're ready for me to find something else to do.'' Read the full post here: https://twitter.com/MartyTheElder/status/1764445788556665041
His topics include border security, strong family values, and government spending. “Our government spends money on the wrong things and spends too much.”
