Georgia's football program is one of the best in the business when it comes to developing NFL-level talent. Over the past three years, the Bulldogs have drafted 33 players after eight more left the roster this year. Recruiting players every year at the top-three level like Georgia is a different matter, but the success of their development speaks volumes.
They had 15 draft picks in the 2022 draft class, breaking the record for the most draft picks in a single class, and haven't slowed down since. They have had 13 first-round picks over the past five years and have drafted 49 total players since the 2020 class, more than any other college football program.
This year's class was evenly split in the draft with four offensive and defensive players each. A notable trend that has developed over the years is how Georgia consistently views offensive linemen as not only NFL-ready, but first-round prospects. Amarius Mims becomes Georgia's fifth offensive lineman taken in the first round and 11th overall since 2017. From 2003 to 2016, the Bulldogs drafted 10 offensive linemen. It's not just the offensive line room, though. The Bulldogs have increased their draft picks in every position group since the addition of Kirby Smart.
Considering Georgia has produced more NFL talent than anyone else, it's no wonder they were able to win back-to-back national titles during that time. Heading into the 2024 college football season, Coach Smart is preparing a roster that will be another national title contending season for the Bulldogs, with a roster loaded with NFL-ready talent on both sides of the football. We are preparing a list of.
