It's nothing new that AJ DiVanza has caught the attention of Duke's basketball staff, as well as everyone else who has seen him play. The Blue Devils are no strangers to winning top-ranked rookie of the year awards, appearing at the five-star forward's games at Prolific Prep (Calif.) and reaching out to him several times.
But now, months after arch-rival UNC and most other bluebloods officially entered the AJ Divanza sweepstakes, Duke University basketball head coach John Scheyer and his staff We have extended our offer. In other words, the Blue Devils are looking to make it two in a row in the race for the No. 1 recruit after landing top talent Cooper Flagg as their 2024 headliner.
DiVanza, who is 6-foot-9 and weighs 200 pounds, revealed the offer via social media Monday night.
What makes Divanza so special is his extremely slippery movement, top-class athleticism and length, smooth jumper, and innate creativity to create his own shot from anywhere on the court. . Divantha, taken No. 1 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite, will be the top piece on a nine-tier Blue Devil wishlist that features all but one of the top five high school seniors. All nine targets rank within the top 20 of their class, including 2001 Duke national champion Carlos Boozer's twin sons, Kayden (17th) and Cameron (2nd).
