If you were hoping the annual spring game in Arizona would give you a glimpse of what the Wildcats will look like this fall; brent brennan, you were probably disappointed. Unless you weren't watching football.
The final game of UA's 15 spring practices took place Saturday night inside Arizona Stadium, and it featured live snaps, dropbacks, highlight-reel catches and more, but it also featured a quarterback game. Noah Fifita He was interviewed by the flag football players surrounding him on the Pac-12 Network.Halftime flag game saw receiver kevin green jr.Play Sheet, etc. While coaching elementary school students, he became a first-round pick of the Green Bay Packers. jordan morgan I had a chat with my old teammates.
And the number of starters scheduled to sit out the spring finale is about as many as the players who will participate, with many holding back as a precaution.
“The most important thing is I just want to stay healthy,” Brennan said. “But you want to play a little bit and you want to show the fans something. Spring games are always complicated.
“It's kind of sad that spring is over. We won't be on the field with them for (another) three months.”
Wearing a blue Arizona baseball jersey and a few leis, Brennan paced back and forth between the blue (offense) and red (defense) sidelines as he and his staff watched individual practices, 7-on-7 and Of a full scrimmage that was running the team in a fair amount of practice.
Arizona's defense was dominant for most of the night, but the offense scored a few times toward the end to balance things out. Brennan said that was the goal all spring.
“I think it’s important in spring practice to basically exchange punches between offense and defense,” he said. “If it's really lopsided, we're going to have problems in the fall.”
Once spring ball ends, the coaching staff will not be able to work with the team until preseason camp begins in late July. It all depends on the players between now and then.
“I plan to take about a month off before returning in June,” Fifita said. “As soon as we get back, we're going to get into summer training and player-led practices. It's a collaborative effort.”
But before that happens, Brennan said his assistants will conduct virtual “exit” interviews with players.
“The coaches are going to make sure all the players understand where they are, what they need to improve on and what went well,” he said.
Just because spring ball is over doesn't mean offseason activities stop. Arizona State has about a dozen open scholarships, and that number could rise even more depending on what happens in the past few days before the NCAA transfer portal closes on Tuesday.
Several UA players who entered the portal in the past few weeks remained with the team through the end of spring baseball, including a freshman running back. jordan washington, had come to the spring game but had no clothes on.There is also the issue of junior cornerback. Tacario Davisdespite spending all spring with the team, he's technically still in the portal after entering Jed Fish's Depart for Washington.
Asked about Davis, Brennan said he has not yet received confirmation whether he will remain in Arizona. This kind of uncertainty is “just the world we live in,” Brennan said.
