One person reportedly died after falling from the peak on Sunday. Ohiofootball stadium, according to OSU's independent student newspaper, The Lantern.
According to the report, the incident occurred on the southeast side of the Shoe, known as Ohio Stadium, where the Buckeyes football team plays games. The Lantern newspaper said two police officers were seen arriving at the scene with a “large white tarpaulin” and that the scene had since been cordoned off.
The Lantern also reached out to Ohio State Press Secretary Ben Johnson, who issued the following statement: Their initial report did not identify the victim.
“Someone has fallen from the stands. They are dead,” he said through the lantern. “We have no additional details to share at this time. Police and emergency personnel are on scene. We have counseling and other support resources available for anyone affected by today's incident. Masu.”
The Columbus Fire Department confirmed the deceased was a woman, but her age was not disclosed, WOSU Public Media reported.
Further details were revealed by Peter Gill of the Columbus Dispatch, who said at around 12:30 p.m. local time, one police officer said, “We need medical personnel and a few police officers at Gate 30… from the stadium. “Someone has fallen,” he said. Doral Chenoweth, a photographer with the Columbus Mission, who was at the scene, said the scene was surrounded by yellow tape and that “all involved were concerned.”
One witness interviewed by the Dispatch described how one person fell as Sunday's final graduating class was exiting the field and exiting through the tunnel used by football players to enter the stadium. After telling the story, he called the tragedy “unbelievable.”

The Ohio State University graduation ceremony began at noon local time, approximately 30 minutes before the incident. Approximately 2,000 students were scheduled to receive their diplomas Sunday. Commencement speakers did not mention the incident, according to the Dispatch report.

Sunday's graduation ceremony was the first time fans were able to gather at Ohio Stadium since the Ohio State football program's spring game on April 13.
