One of the many things we know about the Virginia Tech football team heading into the 2024 season is that they have depth at multiple positions. One of those positions is wide receiver. Quarterback Kyron Drones will have some talented targets to throw to in the fall, as the Hokies have gained a lot of retention at wide receiver.
Jaylin Lane, Daquan Felton, Stephen Gosnell, and Ali Jennings will return for another season. Jennings may be the one to break out among this group. That's because he only appeared in one game last season before injuring his ankle in Virginia Tech's Week 2 game against Purdue. A game against his former team, Old Dominion, in Week 1 was a promising start to his Blacksburg career.
According to Colby Crawford of 247Sports, one wide receiver stood out during spring practice and has claimed to be a part of the Hokies' offense in 2024.
In an article by Brad Crawford of 247Sports titled “The Biggest Players from Top 25 Teams This Offseason,” Crawford noted that Gene filled in for Gosnell, who was injured in practice.
“Even though Virginia Tech returned four of its top wide receivers in the fall, Aiden Green had a great spring filling in for the injured Stephen Gosnell, so he will play a big role in a crowded room this fall.” should have taken charge.”

Last season, Green appeared in 12 of Virginia Tech's 13 games and had just five receptions for 56 yards, his biggest game being against Rutgers in Week 3 and a 35-1 loss against the Hokies in New Jersey. He gained 24 receiving yards in a 16-game loss. In Virginia Tech's Military Bowl win over Tulane, he had one catch for 19 yards.
Green, a three-star recruit from Knoxville, Tennessee, should be a player to keep an eye on in camp this summer. He has the skillset and speed to serve as a playmaker on the outside for the Drones and offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen. Draughn and Beischl Tuten will form a tough run game for the Hokies, and with the addition of depth and talent at wide receiver, Virginia Tech's offense should have little trouble moving the ball and scoring.
