Virginia received a commitment from linebacker Justin Rowe, a junior at the Asheville School in North Carolina. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, reportedly chose the Cavaliers over South Carolina or Wake Forest. He is from Ottawa, Canada.
As a junior, Rowe recorded 31 tackles (five for loss). He intercepted two passes, including a pick-six. As a wide receiver, he caught 28 passes for 455 passes and five touchdowns.
He was UVA's third commitment from the Class of 2025 this week. He reportedly also has offers from Virginia Tech, Michigan, Tennessee, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Missouri and Duke.
UVA also received two commitments earlier this week, according to Rivals. Tight end Willem Sarver is a 6-5, 225-pound three-star athlete from Deerfield, Massachusetts, and Isaiah Reese is a 6-3, 195-pound athlete from Exeter, New Hampshire.

Former temple guard chooses Hokies
Temple point guard Heijer Miller announced on Twitter that he has decided to transfer to Virginia Tech.
Miller, who grew up in Philadelphia, started all 36 games for the Owls as a junior during the 2023-24 season. He averaged 15.9 points, 36.4 minutes, and 4.0 assists per game. He sank 77 3-point shots. He broke Temple's conference records for points (96), assists (23) and steals (16) in five games and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Miller started every game for Temple as a sophomore, averaging 8.6 points and 3.8 assists.
Meanwhile, former Tech University starting guard Sean Pedula announced that he has decided to transfer to Mississippi State. He was named third-team All-ACC last season.

Apprentice sets season winning mark
Jett Winslow hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give The Apprentice School (35-7) a 7-6 victory over Virginia Peninsula Community College at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton.
The Builders set a single-season winning record in the final regular season game and will be the No. 1 seed in the New South Athletic Conference tournament in Wilson, North Carolina. They will play the No. 4 seed on Thursday, May 2 at 11 a.m.
VPCC (11-33) led 4-0 and the Apprentice answered in the third inning with a scoring wild pitch and a two-run homer to right field by Nate Yeary. In the fourth inning, Riggs Ellis' RBI double tied the game.

ODU's Gomez named top stopper
Old Dominion senior left-hander Jacob Gomez has been named to the Midseason Watch List for the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association of America's 19th Annual Stopper of the Year Award.
Gomez, a native of Rutherford, New Jersey, appeared in 11 games with the Monarchs this season, making one start and posting a 1-1 record with a 1.83 ERA. He is tied for first in the nation in multi-inning saves (seven) and 12th in the nation in total saves (seven).

Hampton advances to CAA Tournament
Hampton University won the first round of the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament as the eighth-seeded Pirates defeated ninth-seeded Hofstra, 4-2, on Elon University's campus near Greensboro, North Carolina.

UVA Stars Recognized by ACC
Virginia's Dylan Dietrich was named ACC Freshman of the Year and made the All-Conference Singles Second Team, while fellow Cavaliers Chris Rodesch and Iñaki Montez made the First Team.
